A trip to Madrid May 2024 – Madrid, James and Madrid Snozone: In May 2024 I took a trip to Madrid – mostly to see the band James playing live at La Sala Riviera and to snowboard at the Madrid Snozone at the Xanadu shopping centre on the outskirts of the city. See the video below.

Madrid Snozone – the main slopes
Skiing and snowboarding: The Madrid Snozone is split into sectors. On the left there’s a beginner area for novices to learn in safety off the main slope. On the right is a 250m long piste, the majority of which is used for general skiing and snowboarding. On the far right (as you look up) is a freestyle park. The slope is served by a drag lift on the left and chairlift to the right. On the two visits I’ve made, I haven’t seen the chair operating – but I’m guessing that’s mostly because I’ve only visited during quiet times.
Madrid Snozone – the freestyle park
Madrid Snozone freestyle park: Madrid Snozonehas a small freestyle park on the far right next to the chairlift. Note, the layout can (and frequently does) change but the main features are normally in place.
Riding Madrid Snozone
The skiing and snowboarding at Madrid Snozone: While it’s true indoor snowdomes can’t rival real mountain riding, the Madrid Snozone is surprisingly satisfying and is one of the largest snowdomes in Europe. The riders that will get most out of the experience are beginners and those looking to improve their freestyle skills. See our other Madrid snozone article
